Helen is a Registered Psychotherapist at O.W.L. Counselling & Wellness in Huntsville, Ontario, with a special focus on couples counselling and relationship therapy. Relationships can be some of the most meaningful parts of our lives, but they can also be where we experience our greatest hurt, frustration, and disconnection. Helen works with couples and individuals who feel stuck in repeating patterns, struggle to communicate, are rebuilding trust, are navigating changes in intimacy, or are wondering how to find their way back to one another.

Helen is passionate about supporting couples through communication difficulties, ongoing conflict, infidelity and breaches of trust, emotional disconnection, and concerns related to sex and intimacy. She understands that conversations about relationships and sexuality can feel deeply personal and hard to begin. Her approach is open, compassionate, sex-positive, and non-judgmental, offering a space where sensitive conversations can happen with respect and honesty.

In addition to couples therapy, Helen offers individual counselling for grief and loss, anxiety, caregiver stress, family challenges, and life transitions, including those times when life feels overwhelming or uncertain. She believes therapy is not about telling people what to do. It is about understanding yourself more deeply, recognizing patterns, exploring what matters to you, and making choices that fit your own life and values.

Helen's approach is collaborative and integrative. She draws from Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), the Gottman Method, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), mindfulness, and strength-based and trauma-informed care. Rather than expecting clients to fit one particular model, she tailors therapy to each individual or couple.

Before becoming a Registered Psychotherapist, Helen spent many years working in education, supporting children, youth, adults, and families. That experience gave her a deep appreciation for how relationships, family, culture, life experience, and changing circumstances shape who we are. She brings warmth, curiosity, humour when appropriate, and genuine respect for the experiences clients bring into the therapy room.

You don't need to have everything figured out before starting therapy. Sometimes the starting point is simply knowing that something needs to change. Whether you're hoping to reconnect with your partner, rebuild trust, work through grief or a major life transition, or better understand yourself and your relationships, Helen is here to support you. Let's start with a chat and see how her compassionate approach can help.
